The Local Area Partnerships were
developed in response to the 'Duty to Involve' and seek to build on
councillors' community leadership, and opportunities for community
engagement. The initiative has been driven by Cumbria County Council
and South Lakeland District Council, with the idea is to bring all 3
tiers of councillors together in one place. Parishes were consulted
and largely agreed to go ahead and form the Partnerships. They are
now coming up to their third meeting and have all agreed on their
action plans. the Neighbourhood Forum boundaries have been
re-aligned to those of the 8 Partnerships in South Lakeland.
