The Marchesi Centre was formerly known as the Windermere
Old People Community Centre. Building commenced in 1969 from fund
raising by the Windermere, Ambleside & District Round Table Group and
was formally opened in 1971. The objects of the Centre are to provide
recreational facilities for the benefit of those over 50 years of age
living in Windermere and Bowness urban area. The Centre is a registered
charity managed by a committee consisting of elected members and
co-opted members representing the main users of the Centre.
The Centre
runs group activities such as Bridge, Gentle
Exercise, Yoga & Art. A Coffee and Chat morning is held on
every Friday. A Christmas Lunch is
organised for and enjoyed by members and various trips are arranged
through out the year.
